PJ - Are the pilot powers that you have a particularly wide tyre? I know some brands come up a bit wider or narrower than stated size.
Tried looking at Michelin's website but it's pretty Shiiite - damn french

The Avon site quotes actual measured tyre width in their specs.

Wouldn't Shiiite be in Arabic, not French?

Here's two more data points since I have them laying around. Bridgestone BT-021 170 rear is 6.5 inches wide (widest point). Michelin 180 Macadam radial is 7 inches wide. Both tires are mounted on Bandit 5.5" rims.

That 1/4" on one side can make a big difference in getting chain, chain guard, and shock to line up.

So the Bridgestone is just under 170 at 165mm.. that's useful to know. The one I have on there now is about 172mm from my measurements (not that accurate, I will do it more accurately soon) so that would give me at least 3mm a side, could be very useful.

            Thanks!

I've tried just about every tire on the market on my Blackbird
except the Dunlop Roadsmart. I never thought I'd say this but,
the Conti Road Attack is the best Sport Touring tire I've used.
Handling is incredible and holds a line through a turn like its on rails.
Wet traction is is also excellent. As you can see, my last ride was in
the rain. As you can also see, I use pretty much all of the tire. ( I like
to get my moneys worth.) I've also had to replace a spring on the
mid pipe from scraping it on the road. BTW, there's pretty close to
5000 mi on this tire. I've never gotten this mileage from any other
                tire.

I have heard many people say great things about the Road Attacks. I have Pilot Road IIs on my bike, and while they are also fantastic, they aren't much better than the Bridgestone BT-021's as far as ride quality. So there are 3 that you can't go wrong with. I just may try those Road Attacks next time. The tread pattern looks awesosme too.

Although I just found a guy that will mount my mail order tires for $20, 10 minutes and no appointment nessecary, so I may try some real sport tires like the 002's or Powers. With the prices from Derby I don't mind getting less mileage if I like the stickier tires better.

I ride, therefore I am.... constantly buying new tires.
