Installing new handlebars question...

I'm replacing the "L" bars on my 750LX with Daytona bars. I notice that there are holes in the stock bars where a little tang on the inside of the left & right side switch housing fits.

The new bars from Z1 don't have holes & the switch housings will not clamp completely on them.

What do all you do to make them fit? Snip off the tang or put holes in the new bars??

You can do either, but the easiest method is to remove the tang.

that's what i did, but the throttle side slips a little on the bar. i put some metal duct tape under it & that helps...

I have drilled out the hole in two sets now, never had any issues. Just make sure to center punch, then a small pilot hole, otherwise you will wander around the chrome a lot.

I drilled out the holes in the measured up from the end of the bars on mine and it worked great. No slip and the drilling was done with a cordless Porter Cable drill. I was surprised at how easy it was. Just keep the same orientation toward the underside of the bars.
