I don't know what you were thinking but the chain won't fit with the same clearance as with the stock set up. some shocks won't even work with the 5.5 180 set up because the springs are too big. 2mm is lots of room in the conversion world.

Hey Rob. This is Josh in Brooklyn who bought the spacers from you for my 92 gsxr wheels in a stock gs1100 swingarm. I don't have the measurements on me for the spacers but I'll check. I'm going to play with it again on Thursday and see what can be done. I'll post results...

Here is the problem with some kats Josh. Look at how far out the peg stay is from the frame tube. This will contact the chain on the return run if not removed. This can be a problem with the box steel which the motor mounts and pivot shaft go through. The welds on the inside can be a real mess.

I too am doing this conversion and have seen maybe 520 is the way to go instead of the 530 I have now. If I purchase a 520 chain, will it work with my newly acquired 530 sprockets?80 gs1100 16-v ported & polished, 1 mm oversize intake valves, 1150 carbs w/Dynojet stage 3, plus Bandit/gsxr upgrades

Katman: Will shoot an email after I get some wheel then chain alignments done. Yes, I am using the GS sprocket carrier.
Nasty: You definitely need new sprockets. Katman has the good stuff!

So I got my wheels aligned and it looks like the rear is about 3mm to the right side which seems perfectly within tolerance (?) And the chain looks pretty spot on. What I just realized is that I failed to replace the cush drive rubber and it looks like a couple are thicker than others. This is making the chain skew from side to side as it rolls around. Hopefully I can pick these up on Monday and after bleeding the rear brake I'll be ready to ride. I still need to figure out why the Bandit speedo drive I got is too short though... It's the same length as the gsxr drive I got with my front end.
As of now:

BTW: Anyone want to trade my Yosh race exhaust that requires the center stand to be removed for a street version? It's in really great shape.

The sprocket carrier does not run on the cush drive. The cush is for acceleration and de-acceleration dampening. The carrier has to torque up to the wheel bearing. If the cush is for some reason too wide?? it may keep the carrier from torquing up to the wheel bearing but I don't think that is the problem. Take the cush out and check spacing again. IF the cush is in the way of the carrier the lateral forces will explode one of the bearings.Last edited by katman; 11-21-2009, 09:21 PM.
