The voltage is really stable at all revs with about 12.5v at idle moving up to about 12.8v at revs. If I add more load (ie. switch on the heated grips for an added 30 watts of load) I get a drop of around .2 to .3v.
Given that it's stable does this point to a weak stator. It was overcharging previously before I got it as the RR was shot so maybe that killed the stator.
I will pull it out & do some analysis on it soon but just wondering if collective opinion says I should look for a good deal on a stator or whether I should start looking for a new RR....
The bike is wired - stator direct into RR, Live feed from RR split to wiring loom stock connection plus through fuse to battery.
Ground is wired into stock look & split direct to battery.
My only other thought is maybe one of the stator connections has come off when I moved it into place (they are spades with silicon encasing them) & it's charging off of 2 stator legs only...
When I left for my ride today I took voltage at battery of 12.41v. I took it again when I returned after about 1.5hrs (I stopped & started once in this time after original start to get gas, not running the heated grips) & it was up to 12.46v so it's obviously at least maintaining some kind of charge.
