Motor dropped back in like it was meant to be there...

Got all the left side bits in place...

Today...we install the clutch and all the right side stuff...

Headlight, gauges, control cables, brakes...all today I hope.

Won't be ready to ride for a bit though, I've decided to have my headers black ceramic chromed and that may take a couple of weeks...

        Nice.
Did you ever figure out what was wrong with second gear?

Yup...the dogs were shot...and the fork was bent from being forced out of gear...

Dropped in some "better" used gears and replaced the fork.
          We'll see what happens....

Cleaned up the rusty spots, hit them with some Rustoleum rusty metal primer and gave the whole thing a shot of Rustoleum Semi-Gloss black...

Cheap and dirty, I know, but it holds up well and looks good from 10 feet...

The only thing it doesn't like is brake fluid...(as I found out after the master cylinder relieved itself on the front of the frame...)

I thought about powder coating, but this is no show bike and I couldn't justify the expense...not now.

Come home from work early yesterday and just about finished up.
Front brakes bleed, fork brace on, re-connected all the wiring in the headlight, body work.

I was going to have the headers ceramic coated, but the three week wait plus the cost changed my mind.
Right now I'm going to put the money in new rear shocks, which is more important right now.
I can have the headers coated next winter.

                Until then, I tried this:

Not just High Temperature, but Very High Temperature!

Looks OK...the instructions say to let cure 7 days before using...so we will see how it works.

And one final issue I'm glad broke in the garage...

Always knew the one nut/end of rod was stripped...(Thank you P.O.)
And I've looking for a new set, but when it snapped off, that surprised me.
Just sitting on the bike making sure the controls were where I wanted them and dink, the shift lever was dangling....

Turns out the rod is still available. Got a new rod and nuts on order...

Someone was looking out for you.
Nice change of pace, for things like that to happen under ideal conditions.
Instead of "in the middle of nowhere."
                    Murphy, was on vacation? LOL!
