    Dyno Tests

Has anyone done any dyno tests on their stock GS1100?

I'm installing oversized pistons in mine and now wish I had taken my bike in for a dyno test for comparison purposes.

A couple members have posted results showing 93-94 hp at the wheel, which is right in line with Suzuki's claimed crank hp, stock.
Mark (in Calgary, I think) got his '82 to 100 hp at the wheel, and posted the sheet....this was with 4X1, K & N pods with Gixxer carbs, and re-degreed stock cams, IIRC. If your bike is ready and broken in by mid June, you can have it dyno tested, with a print-out, up at the Parry Sound sportbike rally for around $35. If I make it up there this year, I may run mine, just for fun.
    Tony.

Who does the dyno testing in Parry Sound? Seems an unlikely place to find a dyno! I'm from Ontario originally just found out there is a dyno in Victoria $500 to test and tune... I'll probably do it before I do my motor work next year. If and when I'll post it please post yours if you do it.

It is usually one of the attractions of the rally....the mobile Dynojet equipment is owned & operated by Dynotunes and a cash prize is awarded to the owner of the bike with the highest hp. I didn't attend last year, and I believe there wasn't a dyno shootout, so I'm not sure if they will have it back this year. It is pretty popular, and wait times are sometimes a couple hours, because every squid attending wants to see what his bike puts out (just like us, eh?)...also, the latest price was $50, not $35 any longer.....still pretty good for a dyno pull though (no tuning).
A former member rode to the rally from Ottawa, and met up with some of us, a few years ago....his '81 GS1100E put out 87 hp IIRC, but he had some clutch issues with it.

I have some dyno sheets from 1991 that are interesting to look at... 1327cc, 10.5 to1, with hotter cams, and bigger carbs. Made 181hp with 107 ft. lbs of torque... I will scan them tomorrow and try to post them.. The guy that built my bike really knew what he was doing...

            I posted this a few weeks ago. It's a stock 82 GS1100EZ with about 40,000 miles.
