    Bar Risers--fabrication help sought.

Okay, moving forward with my GSXR front end swap.

Have Triple Tree, and some risers to (hopefully) go on the top:
Top triple is '89 GSXR750 that has ign. mount ground off by PO, risers are off fleabay. All parts are aluminum.

Now when I'm placing the top of the riser over the tree to get a feel for spacing and where the holes might end up, I find a little interference with the where the bolt hole would come out:

(Hole placement is a darn close approximation, but not 100% precise)
Does anyone think this is going to be a problem? Should I cut and narrow the top of the riser to move the bolt holes in @ 1/4" so I'm not so close to the mounting holes for the gauge cluster?

    Ideas? Comments? Suggestions?

Most people use a single bolt riser & you'd likely find this would solve your problem.... One guy on here (Tone I think) has said he had a problem with twin bolt riser's cracking a top triple once.....

You could always do as Posplayr & have them welded to the triple.

I was wondering about that. I think I am going to try and snag some single-bolt risers.

I'd also thought about this, but was stumped about how to bolt the top of the riser to the rest of it once it's welded together. My concern is that aluminum would be too soft to tap reliable threads, and would create an weak/unsafe mounting point for the bars.

If the threads are deep enough, you'd be perfectly fine with tapping the aluminum.

you can weld the underside of the triple clamp and file the welding to give a flat surface to put your bolts.
Usually a weld the risers on the top clamp, but on my last conversion the riser hold with 2 bolts each.
Dont use long bolts that goes through the riser and the top clamp or you will ended with a weak set up.

I used a single post riser from a SV650 risers and mounted it on my top trippled tree plate. I found a good place to drill the holes where were there was enough support. This spot also allowed the bars to be mounted such to allow access to the top fork adjustment screws.
