Mine is a 10 rows.I dont want it too close of the header.
The 16 rows is almost one and half bigger.
My bike is a gs1000 too.

10 rows
So if 10 row is enough all the better. How much temp does it drop? By the way I love your bike and I'm doing mine alot like it with the swinger upgrade and wheels and frontend. Nice job and I look at it all the time.

When I put an 1150 oil cooler on my 1100E temps dropped 80 degrees on long rides. Was 300, now never goes over 220. I am extremely pleased.

You can't judge just by the number of rows, sizes matters too (as aways).
What coolers are you considering?Ed
To measure is to know.

Ditto on the temperature drop. I went from about 280-290F to 210F. Excellent upgrade. I bought the smallest Advance oil cooler from J.C.Whitney, as shown on the OldKawMan site, and it has plenty of cooling capacity. They no longer seem to sell them though.

There are two types of coolers: Bar and plate are the most efficient and the way to go. Quality brands will have this arrangement, and I run them on my turbo TransAm also. The other kind are, well, not bar and plate.
Earls are quality coolers and you can't go wrong with them.
If you ride in an umm, enthusiastic manner, you will produce some heat, and being prepared is far better than being surprised.
