Hi. I'm a new 1983 GS850GL owner. The bike is nice with less than 6k original miles. I polished out the chrome and the fenders look like new, but the tank and other parts need a make-over that can wait til cooler weather.
My biggest problem is the seat. I'm 6'2 and the king-queen seat forces me to ride a little too far forward for my tastes. I'm thinking of making a custom seat and was wondering if anyone here knows of any compatible seat pans I can hunt for. I'm assuming any of the GS models that look like they have the same seat (certain GS850 and GS1000 models) will work, but does anyone know of any others?
The seat I have is in excellent shape with no tears so I won't mess with it.
