Fitting an rear 1150 Wheel on a skunk

Has anyone done it? I've seen Josh fit one to an 1100ES but I'm wondering if it's a straight bolt on with the 1000.

Looks to me that with an 1100 swinger it should be pretty simple but I might need to create some extra clearance between the tyre & the chain (i.e. maybe I'll have to space out the front sprocket a little way).

Any info appreciated. Right now it looks like I have just enough room for a 140 tyre back there, guess I'd need to find another 5mm to go for a 150 but maybe the sprocket drive / hub width of the 1150 wheel takes care of that.

Dan, are you putting on an 1100 swingarm? I too want to put an 1150 wheel on. I have a 3.5 from an '85 and a matching 19" front from an '83 1100.

1150 wheel is the same on the drive side and narrower on the rotor side(hub).
everything you swap out will be the same unless the 1000 arm is not as wide as the 1100.
if that is the case then i would change to an 1100 arm.
simple swap with a couple spacers added to the rotor side only.
one on each side of the caliper hanger.
      ask josh...
i forget the measurements we used to space everything properly.

        Bruce,

Yes, I intend to put an 1100 swingarm on at next tyre change. I am sure there would not be room with the existing swingarm.

I've got a matching wheel from an 82 1100. I really wanted a tubeless one but there is nothing in 19" that matches.

Looking at the existing setup I don't see how a 150 can fit. The 530 chain I have is not much narrower than the 630 chain & I have about 8mm between the 130 tyre & the chain.... I may well go for a 140 as I think that will also give a better profile on that wheel.

I guess I'll have an 82 750 17" rear wheel of the same pattern up for sale soon!

        Blower - thanks

joshes 150x70x17 on the 3.5" rim was fat and nasty..
          750 katana's(89-up) used a 3.5" rim and came with a 150x70x17 from the factory.
          just food for thought.

Yes, Josh's 150 looked fine, no pinch. I may go for that but don't really want to have to deal with spacing anything out to clear the tyre....

Maybe I need a different 530 chain to allow the extra room. Some are definitely narrower than others. Proved that when looking for 520's for the 750.

on an 1150 there was no clearance problem with a 630 chain and a 150x70.
why would anything be different on your application...at least on the drive(chain) side where no changes are being made?
