    Which Exhaust?

Hi im thinking of getting new exhaust system for my 83 GS 750.
Im deciding between MAC 4 in 1 and Vance and Hines 4 in 1.
Both about the same price, does anyone recommend either of them?
Also, are there any other brands i can look up for?

    Quick Lookup:

Vance and Hines is far superior to Mac.

Would the carb be ok as normal or any changed that I should make?

Ive got a Bassani 4-1 and a Vance & Hines 4-1. The Bassani has larger tubing & a larger opening collector then the V&H. My questions are which pipe is better on a stock motor & which one on a big ported head motor ? I know the new pipes are limited in choices but Im just curious about these. The V&H is about 10 years old, the others age is unknown. As far as Im concerned a Mac is a last choice pipe.

The V&H pipe I bought a couple years ago came with jetting recommendations, usually up a couple size main and maybe a size up on the pilot jet.

Use the V&H on the stocker & save the Bassani for the built engine.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. You can get a Hindle 4>2>1 for $299 canadian directly from Hindle. They are meant for '85-'87 GSX-R750s. It's just the header and midpipe but cans can be had fairly cheap. These are usually $600-700.

                Here's one on my bike.

I prefer my old-school Kerker 4-1...but if I Couldn't find one of those, I would go with billy ricks suggestion.

I went with the inst-o-rust pipes....

Don't remember what brand (V&H I think), but they were a nice flat black when I bolted them on, and after a few full-throttle "lets see how she breathes now with these new pods and pipes" runs, they appeared to rust right before my eyes.

I'll probably just wind some exhaust wrap around them and call it a day. At least the rust wont be visible.

Next time I will go with chrome or something with a good ceramic coating.

                      Lesson? Buy cheap, get rust.
