    GSX750ES Handlebars

I would like a more up-right riding position on my GSX (I'm getting old!) – ideally I would like to fit traditional bars but would need to get a top yoke with clamp fitting that would fit – anybody done something like this? Another possibility I thought was to saw a handle bar in half and replace the short straight ones in the standard set up – see pic. Any comments?

Not sure you being in the UK and it being a GSX and all ..But...

I have a 83 gs750esd... And a friend had a 83GS750ed we put risers in the holes that the stock bars bolt down with .. Bolted up worked great ... Cant help you on what parts we used been some years ..Called my friend he is saying .."Some sort of Yamaha ".. Sorry cant help more ...I would hit a 'bike breaker' (see I can speak the Queens English ..lol.....)...And do some digging ... Let us know what you find ..I may want to do this to my esd do to getting older too ...lol

Would love to see the UK ed and esd bikes..

Hope the weathers getting better over there ..A good friend is from Leeds UK and said you guys are getting real bad weather ..

maybe something like this is what you need?
      1978 GS1085.

Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

The E risers through '85 will fit and are a bit taller. You can also remove the risers from the top triple and thread some traditional clamps into the bolt holes the risers were held down with. Then you can use a traditional bar with any bend you want.

Billy hit the nail on the head. Source a pop up Katana top triple, a couple of risers, and use any tubular bar in the world.
          Before:

          After:

I've since cut them (the risers) shorter and installed legitimate shims, but you get the idea....

These were off a Kawasaki Vulcan, I think.

I've since scrapped the crappy stalk mount mirrors for some nifty bar ends that don't vibrate all over hell.

Here's my machine. I've taken the half faring off and fitted a new rectangular headlamp/brackets and since the photo was taken small indicators. Risers and a traditional bar should finish the job!

                    Hey Smokinapankake?

One extra thing – I notice that these risers (including the ones you used) have a threaded hole at the bottom so that to fit you insert a bolt through the underside of the top yolk? Did you drill out the threaded hole in the yolk to do this? I suppose ideally I need risers that have a recessed hole in them so that they are secured with bolt from the top. If that makes sense!! :-)

Most of the bar clamps bolt down from inside the bottom half of the clamp. Just use a bolt with the right threads for your top triple.

                          XT,

My top triple just has through holes, the clip ons were threaded. So, the bar clamps had a bolt down through them, and the triple has through holes, so I just used a few washers on the bottom of the triple and nylon locking nuts to hold the whole thing together.

Those risers may work for you, but you may need to source some longer bolts and also drill out the threads on your top triple; not something I personally would do but there is no real safety concern if you do.
