    Front End Swap - 79 GS1000L

I've seen a handful of front end swaps on 78-79 GS1000E&S models with 2004-6 GSXR front ends, but no 79 GS1000L (chain drive) swaps. I'm trying to figure out if anyone here is familiar with the differences in the L & E/S frame. Head tube angle is really the most important thing. Point me in the right direction. Any info is always greatly appreciated!

Head tube angle and length is all the same..

The only difference is in the triple tree offset and the legs... No rake vs the neck to speak of..

L is on top.. E on the bottom.. note that the L tree has less offset to compensate for the leading axle lowers.

I took the time to measure rake and trail on my E forks and the L forks..
he L trees have less offset, longer legs and the leading axle but when you put them all together the rake and trail are identical to the E forks.

wow, this is exactly what I was looking for in an answer. I thought in my mind that the wheel hung out a bit farther because of the axle offset, not realizing the triple had an offset to compensate. At least a GSXR style front end swap won't be any different then, but I'm think I'll hold off on it as long as possible if the rake is already similar to a stock E. Thanks so much for the info and the photos!
