Main Jet Size...?
A very common problem i have read all over this forum is the running lean needing to rejet. My bike 1980 Gs550, New K&N Pods, 4:1 exhaust, org jets 92.5 and I know i need to rejet just not sure how large to go. I had a pair of 97.5 which i put in...small improvment not much..how large would your recommend..? I was told do a 25% increase from stock which would be 115 ... would this be to much not enough or jsut right...? THANKS EVERYONETags: None

Would not be too far off.
I would guess somewhere between 110 and 117.5.
You will likely also have to raise your needle a bit, too.
Unless you find someone who has actually done it, everything is going to be a guess.
Only your plug chops will tell you how your engine likes the jets.

A little off subject but .... Being the carbs screws are 31 years old about 3/4 of the top screws on the carb are like puddy they strip VERY easy when trying to turn, and they dont like to turn. Any suggestions on getting them off...?

The dremel cut wide for flat head worked perfectly thanks for the tip. Anyone knows these carbs I do have question, been searching and cant seem to find an answer. I pulled the tops off all the carbs and pulled out the sliders, I see the clamp inside the slider which is holding the pin in place...how do i get it out? Is it as simple as just push the pin and it will pop out? or do i have to do somethign specific, dont want to hurt the slider sticking a pair of needle nose down there and attempting to get the clamp out. I am planning raising the needle and putting in 115 main jets, also how much higher would u recomend raising it...? 1-2-3 notches....? (not even sure how many notches there are..or even if it has notches to be risen) THANKS EVERYONE

Take a look at the article here on Basscliff's site, http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/, showing how to dismantle and rebuild these carbs. Highly recommend you follow the guide to a T so you don't have to redo it later.
You might want to also post in the GS Owners section so you can get a proper welcome from Basscliff and others. You need some skinny circlip pliers or very narrow needle nose to compress the clip for removal.
I use adjustable circlip pliers with interchangeable tips.
