If I wanted to make my 82 -sz-750 work better on gravel, because sometimes it's necessary, and sometimes for fun, what do you think might be best?Tags: None

You'll have hell getting the suspension to work very well...it's more about the boingers than the rubbers. Plus, there's not a hefty selections of all terrain tires available in sizes to match the Kat.

The stock suspension dosen't work very well on the street either! What other triple/fork/wheel combo could I use? as long as it's not irreversible, I'm open to ideas.

Speaking of witch, I can get a bandit 1100 (I think) front end locally c/w 17" wheel 6pot brakes, triples, bars for $500 Would still need a rear, but is this a good price? It's in vg condition.

Clearance is the next thing after suspension.
$500 for the whole front end is steep. I wouldn't buy it. If you're patient you can find the whole bike for that (shot motor, of course, or in need of a LOT of work) and make your money back selling other tidbits. I usually work by this practice alone...if I need a front end or something else complex, I buy the bike it comes from and use the rest to make a profit.

You could just upgrade your current suspension, as many others have done
Or, get a dual sport bike1978 GS 1000 (since new)
1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
1978 GS 1000 (parts)
1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
2007 DRz 400S
1999 ATK 490ES
1994 DR 350SES

We're not talking off road here, just about 20% gravel 80% street.Current setup is mostly stock suspension with braided brake lines, progressive front springs, stock rear shocks and BT-045's. Works ok on the street but could be better.Could be lots better on the other 20%. I'd just like it to be better at both.I'm greedy that way.Actually, I'd like it to have radial tires,41mm RSU cartridge forks about 32" long, with 6"-7" travel, in first gen gsxr triples,19"front with 110mm tire,17"rear, 160 mm tire in stock swingarm with 1" longer rear shocks. Just need to find out if such a combination could be made up of mostly stock bits.Or maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree.Last edited by Guest; 04-14-2011, 01:12 AM.
