AOD, I see you have a fairing on your nice 550. I get tired getting beat up by the wind but is a small quarter-fairing worth the trouble ? Does it make an appreciable difference or is it mostly just for appearance ? I like fly screens too but I can't imagine they do much. What's your opinion, gang ? Thanks.

You might be surprised by how much protection a small fairing gives. I notice quite a difference between my '83 GS1100 with no fairing and my '99 ZRX1100 with a small headlight fairing. Several companies make fairings that are pretty universal. Generally speaking, the bigger the fairing the more protection but bigger fairings, especially handlebar mounted, can affect handling. You would also have to consider the 'look' of the bike with a fairing if you care about such things.
