OH! That sounds interesting. And on the seventh day, after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

Here are the pics since I am sure the thread is gone by now.

But that isn't for this thread. And doesn't belong on this forum really
I also found a set of clocks to replace the kilo clocks that are on it with US MPH ones for only 20 bucks

See that's the point man. The reason the lawn looks like that in that photo is because the snow had just recently melted away. That photo is from March! 8O

Is your motor done? IF mine gets done tomorrow or Sat I won't be able to get it ....working.....that would be a drag.
Chin up M8... we are almost there!
I have so much other stuff going on right now that I may just comit myself by the weekend. I can't do it all. And on top of that, I need to go back to the doctor. This supposed pulled groin is now hurting up inside in my intestinal area. Both my mom and my uncle died from intestinal cancer. I need to go get checked out again.
Strenth to carry on is waning.

I have an update. The plans changed today after talking with my engine builder.
Instead of pushing to get it done this year yet I am going another winter. I mean this was in order to have it for what??? A few more weeks of riding weather? I have decided to let it go into the next winter now and finish it right. It has gone this far now. Plus I wasn't planning on finishing the cosmetics until winter anyway so no biggie. I have now decided to put the engine back on the bench for the season and we are going to do a bit more work.
Joe is going to perform a more complete porting of the head as well as a better polish than we were going to go with. Then when that is done and we glass bead the head and cylinder we are going with a set of larger racing cams and heavier valve springs (the reason for the change in porting for more top end flow).
We are also going to raise the compression a bit. What we are shooting for is the perfect balance of performance & reliability. We want to push it up a bit but keep it completely streetable with no worries about reliability. It's not a drag bike
The good note here is what we are doing Joe has already done to more GS1000's than all of us have ever owned and he knows the outcome
He wont give me an close number because he said it can vary a lot as each engine is unique but he feels sure that we will see tripple digit numbers on the dyno when we test it after break in and balance.
That said, I am very excited again and at this point have no worries waiting through the winter again because this riding season is already coasting to an end and I had a good year despite no GS.
Now if it works out well (as I plan to keep on top of it this time) I will have the whole project done for spring 2005.
Well katman, looks like you win this years race to completion
I know this isn't the news a lot of you wanted to hear but I truely am happy with this decision and look forward to having it done right.
Rock on!

It's a good one Hoomie,
we all win at this brother. I already have a few ideas to do this winter but I am hoping to get the beast broken in before putting her to bed for winter....
If I thought it would be this long I would have done what you are doing then you have a full season to run her for breaking in. My engine is half complete and I am told couple more days so onward I go.
Patience my friend, and you will reap a harvest of horsepower and kneck injuries from people catching a look as you rip on by...ahahahahah

Hear that Mark?! When you finally do get your project completed, after all the time, money and frustration is over and you're actually riding the bike for the first time, you're gonna get sued! 8O Ain't life grand?!And on the seventh day, after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!

Maybe you will win after all..........don't forget the 12.9 hardened allen bolts for your starter clutch.......while it is apart.

Thx man I had that up for a while. It's a pic of my bike in it's new paint scheme and the other pic that shows how the fairing will look. Before this one I had the GS1200SS up in an animated gif too. Let me know if you want one. Just send me two pics you want and I'll make you one.

Thx Rob. I actually have had a couple auctions from the second one you
listed in my view already. That bike is badly weathered. I really only am
going to need new pin stripes/labels for my Turbo. The bike appears to be
in really good shape otherwise.
My engine builder for my GS has fallen off radar again. That means he is
busy. I am trying to get an update plus I want to change my sprocket order.
I am going with the 16/45 tooth layout for my 530 conversion now.

Well I got to see my engine last Friday because I was on vacation so I did the old surprise drop in
It was neat looking at the clean bored cylinder walls with the cross-cut boring done on them sitting next to the shinny new pistons.
As I said before we are going to raise compression a bit and go with a slightly larger lobe cam setup. My question to you gurus is this:
What cam should I go with and where do I look? I am not against buying a used set of cams if I can be sure they are good but will probably buy new to be safe if I can afford it. What we want to do is go up just a bit. I am not looking to make a drag bike out of it as I want it to remain completely streetable and reliable. But I want to take it up a notch to squeeze a little more stomp out of it. What am I looking for guys? What cams that is?
Any and all info is greatly appreciated!
