oil galley nut thread pitch
Does anyone know the thread pitch for the oil galley plug located on the right side of the bike near the oil pressure sensor? I've seen guys hook up oil pressure gauges to it. I pulled the bolt that serves as a plug but no fitting shops have anything with the same thread. ThanksTags: None

The thread on the plug is not a pipe thread, it's a normal machine thread (sorry, don't remember the size). What are you trying to do? If you just want to attach a pressure gauge you can drill into the old plug and then tap it to 1/8" NPT. I did this to install a gauge into the port.
BTW, took the gauge off since it's just an excuse for an leak. The GS oiling system is foolproof and there is no reason for a gauge unless you have a second generation 750.Last edited by Nessism; 09-02-2011, 01:09 AM.Ed

VDO gauges like shown below cost about $20, and the 1/8" elbow about $2. Beats paying $60 for a preassembled kit.
My gauge needle vibrates some but tells you what you need to know. Let me know if anyone wants this thing. I'll sell for what I have into it.
