My buddy at the hydraulic store said that that would be the generic part number for any other hydraulic store across the Country.
I did buy all that he had in stock, just in case someone needed one.
He said that he would have more by the first of next week also.

I have the same cooler and oring on my gs550. I have been pushing the life of that oring for some time now.

If someone could locate a replacement, i'd gladly pay for their services.

Good to hear. I'm not selling mine and using it on my bike now.

There has been much discussion about sealing that oil gallery off. I believe there is a thread on here about the damage that can occur. The old Ward Performance oiling blocks had an adapter that blocked off the oil passage for racing only with modified heads. For stock bikes, you may want to do a little more research. The two valve engines may be different, but the 4 valve engines don't seem to like it.

I ordered some of these to see if they work. When they arrive I’ll post if they fit and function....

Style 870 u-seals are precision molded from Buna-N synthetic rubber. Style 870 u-seal numbers conform in size to Army-Navy specification AN6226.

Looking at the specs, the material should handle the temp, oil and pressure. I also ordered some 870-04. Whichever fits best I’ll try.

I was looking for the exact same U cup seal a few years back for the cooler take off. The late Eric Bang sent me this photo of the U seal which is a direct replacement.
I thinks someone posted a link to the exact same seal in an earlier post, in which case it will fit and work (according to Eric!)

I just ordered the 870-04 and 870-05. The 04 seems to be a little closer to the measurements of the tube, but I read that the 05 works. I should have them later this week and I'll try both and post what I find. The material they are made from should handle the heat, oil and pressure.

Make sure the seal crushes down over the oil port in the engine. If there is any gap oil will bypass the cooler.

Soooo. Got the U-seals today, both the 04 and 05.
The 04 is an exact fit but isn't wide enough, so the 870-05 is the correct seal.
Threw one in boiling water and it handled it.
I have 3 extra 870-05 u-seals that I'm willing to sell for $6 each, that includes shipping. (Had to place a minimum order and flat $7.95 shipping)

Here's a picture of the 870-05 on the housing. Squishes down tight into the neck in the crankcase.
