I thought the backwards fender thing was a drag biker trick to reduce wind resistance or something and that he was pulling your leg. But you saying that made me realize it wasn't. Yes, your front fender is on backwards in that picture Phil

Are you running the 15/49 combo now.
Now your goal should be 7.50 at over 90, don't be surprise if it happens soon.
NICE

Yes, I am still running the 15/49 combo (530) and I put the M/T slick I got from Pingel (25X5.5X18) on the stock rim using the stock swingarm. It is a very close fit.
To recap this whole project:
I bought the bike for $100. I stripped it down to what you see in the pics, put a dyna electronic ignition and rev limiter, put a stock seat on it (and got rid of the big touring seat that was on it). Put Pingle wheelie bars on, the slick, did a 530 conversion with 15/49, put velocity stacks on, rebuilt the carbs and put 118 jets in. Got the V/H header on ebay as discussed before. Put the drags bars on and lowered the front end with Pingel lowering straps. I have also lost about 10-12 pounds of my own weight since the 8.047 run a few weeks ago and hope to loose about 20 more before the year is over. Oh, and I run VP C12 for fuel and use Mobile One oil, but will be changing over to Amsoil soon. I have just a hair over $1000 invested in this bike now and am having the time of my life (again).
Movie of my best run today at members.cox.net/vtr1000/best.mpg (all lower-case this time)
God Bless all of you!

That sound great Phil, great job on all the mods. How wide is that stock rim.
If your engine is stock compression try 93 octan one night then next time you go to the track try 89 octan and compare the slips. You may run faster with the 89 octan, plus save a fell dollars on gas. I say that cause last year when my bike was still stock compression I tried racing fuel VP110 and actual ran 3 tenths slower as compared to pump gas.
Now with the high compression motor I'm running VP103 now and will try 110 or C14 in the next few weeks and see what the differents is.1166cc 1/8 ET 6.09@111.88

The rim is stock, so it's what, maybe a 2.5 or 3?
And yes, I do plan on running pump gas on the next tank, just to see.
Do you know what the max rpm thje stock motor can handle? I have the rev limiter set at 9000.

Rpm is limited to your cams and valve springs on a stock engine. You may float the valves or loose power if you go to far past redline. Try to find out what the max HP and Torque and what rpm it is for your model and try shifting when the rpm is at max hp. Then drop it down 500 rpm's when you shift and compare slips.
Get a shift light if you don't have one, it's alot easier to know when to shift then trying to watch the tach.1166cc 1/8 ET 6.09@111.88

That's the thing, I have no tach to begin with. So, I guess my question should have been, what is the redline for the 750 2 valver engine. I mainly got the limiter to protect the engine and also to eventually install a kill switch for shifting. I have it set at 9k right now and usually shift before it hits.

Sounds like you were shifting on the limiter . I'm sure you could go up a little higher if you have good springs in it. I've seen a lot more than that with a stock 1100. Change the limiter up and/or down and see if you lose time or gain time. That would give you the most useful info.

Had one pair of cars and one pair of bikes in line before my run and then rains came! Didn't even get a run in, but they are going to do it tomorrow, so I will go there straight from church. There was a nice GS1100 Suzuki car tire bike there piloted by a very nice lady, but none of the bike got to run. She said she ran 6.40's and had been for 10 years now. She said she runs 9.20's in the 1/4.
Will give a full report tomorrow, hopefully with pics and a movie.
God Bless!
phil
ps. by 4pm today, the rains were gone and the sun was out, so the track should be dry tomorrow.

I know that feeling, 2 weeks ago was a rain out for me. That just gives us more time to tinker with our bikes.1166cc 1/8 ET 6.09@111.88

Ran the Summit Series today at Barona and 8 bikes were there. 1st race: against a Harley: the guy fell during his burnout and broke his front brake lever, so I got a bye run.. Second race: also against a Harley, I won. Finals: against a Kaw ZX11: dialed in a 6.90 against my 7.90 dial in, caught me at the end and let off, so I got 2nd place for the day. The bike ran 7.85's all day long and that was with a countershaft sprocket change to 16 teeth. Just brought my rpms up more to start. My mph was up to 87-88 now, and I am not getting into 4th gear like before.

She and her husband (Joe) have become regulars at the track. They both have been racing many years and even got married on the starting line at some track during an NMRA event a long time ago. She told me she has been racing that same Suzuki for 10 years now. She runs in the low 6's in the 1/8 and in the 9's in the 1/4. I think her bike is way faster, but she seems to shift very early and rides very conservatively. They are both the nicest people you would ever want to meet!
