Help! Questions about boring for more displacement...

    Hi everyone,

I want to go for some serious displacement on my Kat 1100, and found some JE pistons that would push it so 1500 cc's. What else is needed for this mod beyond having the block bored out (If even possible)?

Please help as this is totally new territory to me.

    Thanks,

After reading that article, contact RapidRay.
I think 1500 is too big for a road racer.

          Thanks,
you would need a big block std block wont sleeve to 1500 and bore cases to suit

I have blocks & 1500 will make a LOT of torque!!! You need a LARGE oil cooler too. Would make a fun motor! Ray.

Can you get away with a stock top and bottom end when running a big block with those kind of pistons?

No, a stock bottom end will not be adequate.

To start I would do the following:
Welded crank with straight cut gears.
Clutch basket with HD backing plate and straight cut gear to match crank
                HD trans shaft bearings

I am sure someone will chime in with more

Yes, and lots of work and money on the starting/charging system to turn over those big 'ol pistons. They are probably high compression, so count on running booster or race gas.

Call me at 714--356-7845. I build LOTS of big motors & it doesn't require as much as some here are making it sound. Ray.
