    1150 block into a 1260

    I got a 1150 block now for my GS1100 and what I hear it can be bored to a 1260. I think OEM bore is 74 mm so to make it a 1260 I'll have to bore it out to 78 mm.

    Can a 1150 block take a 4 mm overbore just for drag racing??

    As for case fit its looks like 90 thousands clearance differance between the two blocks.

    Go to www.wiseco.com and look up "Powersports", then "Suzuki". They list all of their available overbore kits and details of what is required, along with stroke dimensions. Very useful reference tool. I actually saved a copy of the pdf catalog to my own computer so I could look at it with no problems anytime.

    They list a 1229 kit (77mm bore) for the 1150, with only over boring required. For the 1100 they list a 1261 kit (78mm bore), but it requires either resleeving the block or an aftermarket block to work at that bore diameter.

      Hi Jake.

      The maximum bore for a 1150 block is 1230cc wich leaves 2mm thick cylinderwall. That is just abou max what you can do. Any more will warp the walls from the heat resulting in, you don?t want to know or experience.....
      You can resleeve to 3,35" and bore up to 1327cc.

        I'm running a K1258 Wiseco kit (1261cc) in an 1150 block (stock sleeves) on my '81 GS(X)1100.. no problems whatsoever..
        I admit this is stretching the boundaries a bit but I know of several bikes with the same setup running sweetly..

        however I wouldn't recommend resleeving the stock block for use with anything as big as 1327cc though.. the bigger sleeves will weaken the block because of amount of material that would need to be removed to make'm fit..
        also because the block acts as a crank support things aren't improving when the power output will increase but rigidity of the block will actually decrease..

        as for fitting an 1150 block on a 1100 case the mouths will need to be "cleaned up" in certain spots.. try dry fitting the block for locating these..

          This bike is only ran on the strip and was wandering if I bored a 1150 block to 1260 and use 13-1 pistons would it stay together.

            That is also what I?ve heard, but the biggest tuningshop here in Sweden claims that it is ok with 1150block. And as I thought, if a 1100block can be resleeved and bored to 1260 the 1150 should be able to take 1327 wich is 2mm larger than the 1260. And the stock bore is 2mm larger on the 1150. But to go 1260 in a stock 1150 block, that I would never. That is just 1,5mm cylinderwall. From what I have learned, 2,5mm is what you need to make it stable.
            I just went for both, VH Bigblock and 2,5mm sidewall

            And Jake, are you planning any reinforcements soon? If your crank is pre-83 it must be welded on every pin. -83 is semi welded already, just did that myself at a reasonable cost. If you haven?t you?re pushing your luck. And I dont want to read a posting from you telling us your baby blew up.... [/img]
