    airbox compatability

Will the gs850/1000 airbox be interchangeable from the same years? Or could even the 1979 850's fit a 1981 gs1000? I see lots of 79's on Ebay, but only a couple higher priced 1000's. The 79's looked like a different mounting system, or I couldn't see by the pictures. Any help is appreciated. Charlie.

What's for sure is that the shaft and chain driven bikes have different airboxes!
Single piece for the shafties and two pieces for the others.
The diameters need to be watched also as the CV carbs are much larger.
