GS1000 Rearsets

I'd like to change the footpeg position on my GS1000. I don't want to go up, just back.

I'm trying to relieve the angle at the knee & hip.

It's looks like the Tarozzi's go up & back only & aren't adjustable... is that right? Anyone have other ideas?

Anyone got anything on their shelf that will be of use to me?

I'm using gsxr rearsets on my 80 1100. I made up aluminum plates & bolted them on. It should be relatively the same to do so for your 1000.

How did you manage all the linkages?

That's the bit I'm not so sure about... Don't you need a collar for the shift shaft & the brake pivot?

the gsxr rear sets are all self contained. Just use the master cylinder that is bolted to the rearset. Then just get a rear brake line the right length.

the brake leaver pivots on the rear set. Like i said all self contained and all the frame does is hold the hold the rearset the rear set holds everything else.

the shift side you might have to play with a little bit but all that would take is piece of rod that you can cut and thread.

When I did my Tarozzi rearsets I used a shift input shaft arm from a GS550
GS1100E will also work.

All you need after that is a custom length rod..

here is a pic of a gsxr750 rearset mounted to my GS. you can easily fabricate a bracket to mount it so the footrest is at the height you want it.

Anyone think of a good reason why I can't use Hyabusa rearsets?

They are a little cheaper plus the main reason is they have a rubber peg & rubber mounted brackets so should be more comfortable than the solidly mounted GSXR ones...

no reason at all, as long as you can sort some mounts on the frame, you may need a longer gearshift linkage rod but thats not a real problem as most bolt on rear sets needs a different one anyway

I made a mounting bracket with 3/8 aluminium stock that bolt in the stock pegs holes.
The pegs and linkage are off a 1991 gsxr1100

I had another look at this yesterday & decided that I might just get away with dropping the pegs a bit. Since I put the longer rear shocks on I haven't managed to scrape pegs yet anyway.....

Anyone know of an offset peg that fits the Suzuki holder?
