    Another help me question lol!!

So because my clutch was slipping at high revs..i decided it was time to snag a new one. I went with an APE "heavy duty race" "extra plate with springs". Quite an easy install today, but now my problem is that its a pain in the A!@ to get her into neutral. I tried adjusting at the clutch lever also at the other end of the cable. When I had the bike in first gear, with clutch in, the bike was moving forward...IMO the clutch was to loose...so I tightened it at the lever and then it went away, but like i said...its a pain to get into neutral??? WHY??? I think I'm way overlooking this simple repair!!????

Sorry to tell you at this point but OEM works best and lasts a long time

Yep, the extra plate is taking up some of your needed room and the "heavy duty race" springs are going to be a pain every time you try to squeeze the lever.

Damn!!!.. I don't mind the clutch lever being harder to squeeze...my main concern is why is it a pain to get into neutral??? When in first, the clutch feels great letting.out, smooth and grippy...but I am not able to shift without the clutch anymore. Feels like an adjustment issue.

Also, & this is the worst part, the "extra plate" clutch kits have thinner plates & the tangs will DESTROY your clutch hub. The Fast By Gast plates are about 9 bucks each & a better choice than ANY thinner plates. APE also has some other plates for GSs too but I have never used them yet. I have & DO use the Gast plates & know they are good. Ray.

It's not adjustment -- you installed a clutch that has a lot of extra drag because of the extra plate and the very heavy springs, so you're just never, ever going to be able to find neutral easily with this setup.

This type of clutch is simply not suitable for a streetbike, and as Ray noted, the thinner extra plate parts will chew up your clutch hub in a hurry. He gave good advice about returning to the stock number of plates.

If your stock plates are in good condition, you might try reinstalling those parts but with new stock springs or perhaps three heavy-duty springs and three new stock springs. If your stock plates are burned, then the Fast by Gast plates sound like a good option.

Also, you might want to reveal exactly what sort of bike you're talking about here...

I made the same mistake when I needed a new clutch a few years ago.
Ended up selling it on ebay for cheap.
I am using the springs from the ape kit and stock plates. I still cant get neutral at a stop, I have to shift to neutral as I roll to a stop. I shift without the clutch, only using it to start in first.

Well this.seems to be a dumb move...that I bought a "performance clutch" seems that all its gonna.do is ruin my bike
@bwringer... It's an 80 GS 1100L not still trying to research but i believe I have the 16 valve motor, not.sure if it.came with that model or not... The engine code says GSX on it??

So I can remove the extra plate?? I really don't want to pay for another clutch at this point seeing how the company more than likely let me return this.clutch!!

Another thing came to mind... When I removed the old clutch, I swear that the fiber plates were the same size...or at least pretty Damn close!!???

Probably all you ever needed was some new stock Suzuki springs to replace your 30 year old collapsed ones.

If the plates weren't worn too thin from abuse they will still work fine, but the springs always collapse with time.
