    different tree clamps and shocks

i have a chance at getting a different front end setup for a steal, but before i pull the trigger i figured i would ask the world of gs. a setup has caught my eye and it might be a long shot but the have seen front shocks with the triple trees for cheap off a 1985 gs550e nothing is wrong with them, i like the way they look and they have the shock adjustments on the out side bottom of the shocks. would they fit my 78 gs550e and what would i have to do to make them work. i am cautious about it cause i am not sure if the my rotors would have to be changed or if it would work at all thank you

If they are the same diameter you might be better off putting the fork legs in your stock triple trees....

The triple bearing should fit (or be convertable - ball to taper type) but you'll probably have to work out steerer stops, ignition plate, something to hold the gauges etc.

    Doesn't the 85 have clip-on handlebars too?
