how much cam lift with stock guides?
How much cam lift can I run with stock guides? A G4 has .355 lift is that ok or even the .370 lift web cams. The APE site says anything OVER .370" lift needs shorter guides, so is .370 lift ok?Tags: None

The original cams were from Andrews. They bailed and went Harley only... Still nice guys. The cams were chosen by the guys at Cammotion to try and match the old ones... I am not sure whether the are enough. If I ever get on a dyno, I will maybe be able to figure it out...

Question: can I run .370 lift cams with the APE titanium retainers that the site says they give 0.030 more clearance?

ive had the stock retainers break with higher lift cams and stronger springs (maybe just bad luck on my part) but i havent risked it since I think he is correct about the higher lift being ok with the ape retainers ape could verify, also be sure to ck for the keepers sticking out below the retainers and possibly hitting the top of the valve seal or the guide your idea was a common trick we used on the 2 valve 900 and 1000 kaws

I have a set of cams here stamped "212" but checking the lift at the valve and it is only 0.350" I think these have been reground for less lift. The lobe lift is 0.240 and the base circle measures at 1.052" with calipers. Anyone know what the base circle is for 212's? They could be mislabled 168 cams, but I would be able to tell by the size of the the base circle. They are not just worn out cams, the lobes are in decent shape.
