    Stand alone throttle unit

You know how the throttle tubes are integrated to the kill switch/start button unit....

I would like to see if it's possible to use a stand alone unit so I can use the kill switch/start unit from modern motorcycle.

Anybody using a stand alone throttle unit on their GS?

    Thank you all

Last time I looked, all the "modern" motorcycles also used an integrated unit.

If you open up what you have now, you will see that the switches are right there, with the cables, there is no way to separate them.

Just put the new integrated unit on there and hook up your throttle cable(s) to it.

What is so special about a "modern" unit that makes it better than what's on there now?

My GS has the stock throttle - but on two of my CB's I've done exactly that.

There are a number of sources for aftermarket throttles, both in push/pull and single cable configurations - Active, Motion Pro, Plot etc. You can use switches from a later bike, or buy an aftermarket switch block (both of the switch blocks pictured are O&W out of Japan).

        Thank you for chiming in.

        The result is pretty nice.

I will look into it as fa as the aftermarket throttles go.
