    ive got a gsxr damper as well...i want to mount it to my bike cause...well sharp corners, and 70 mpg bumps sometimes cause a slight wobble..

    ill post pics up if an when i get it done

      i see the newer GSXR's have electronic dampers which increase the damping effect the faster you go.
      i read in another bike forum that it is possible to fit an over ride to these dampers so you can adjust them manually by adjusting the resistance (i think) to the damper, via a small potentiometer.
      does anyone know if this will work and how to connect one up?

        I researched it for the Honda HESD damper. Even got one to take a look at. That one takes a voltage feed via the ECU that takes it to maximum damp at 6.5v. (It moves a solenoid that controls a valve).

        On the CBR forum there are instructions to a voltage regulator setup to make it manual. It runs at relatively high current draw.

        I expect the GSXR one is similar....

            Mine is 250mm with a 65mm stroke.



            I have one of the units if you want one to play with... It's pretty big, I couldn't see how to make it work with the GS as the bars are in the way. You need clipon's & a relocated ignition...

              bugger, i just missed out on a brand new electronic damper on ebay, went for £10.50

                Apparently the newer ones can't be powered up manually in the same way..

                  apparantly it is operated by a small tapered plunger that moves in or out to restrict or relieve the damping action. i wonder if it would be possible to make a mechanical adjuster to do the job.
                  i guess i will just have to buy one and have a play with it

                    I looked at that... The answer is yes but it is wet in there (i.e. you'll need to seal any adjuster against the oil pressure).

                    Also the solenoid is on the underside.

                    Also you should know that these units are pretty massive (tall as well as big and heavy).

                    With Clipons you may manage to mount one but I don't see it ever looking good...

                      are we still talking about the same damper? i am still looking at the gsxr damper, not the big honda type ones that sit on top of the top yoke

                        I don't remember what year this one was off. I hate to even guess. It is close to fitting but would need to be flipped up. Made by KYB.

                            this is the one i missed out on. (gutted) i see no reason why it cant be fitted upside down.........
