    1428cc on a gs1100e, whats required?

im thinking about going 1428 cc on my stock 1100 and a gs1150 head. Can I use the stock block and have it bored? Does the cases need to be bored? How will it perform on the street . Would it be too difficult to drive?

Cases need boring, Aftermarket block, Need a head stud set for a 1150 head. Then the quetion of what's been done to the head. If it doesn't have some serious work done to it along with different carbs, you are wasting your money with a 1428. Without oversize valves and cams to support them, getting enough air in will be next to impossible unless you are using some sort of boost like a turbo.
Stock block and sleeves 1166, 1150 block and sleeves 1197. Both can go one more oversize but thats getting really thin on the street .
Now an 1100 block can be bored for sleeves, but I wouldn't go beyond 1260 myself. after that I use a big block.

While it sounds cool, it will take ALOT of $$$$$. For $3500.00 bucks you can have a Bandit or a CBR XX Blackbird & REALLY go fast.

you need my 1465 and you'll have a tork monster.
        upper/lower studs/back cut tranny/bore cases/cam chain ect...
upgrade the head later as you have the money/time.
        bottom would be done already.
many ways to skin a cat.

Not to mention you will have a modern day hot rod with 30 year old suspension technology. Not a good marriage of parts depending on how you intend to ride it.

I would start with what you have, if your engine is tired rebuilding it with an oversize bore within the stock barrels would do wonders for power. In this process get the crank and clutch welded along with a new cut tranny gears.
If you have the carbs and ignition to go with it, it will be a huge boost in power!

All this work will be usable once you decide to go over 1400cc.

oversize pistons and the machine work cost near the same as i want for my 1465..
                like comparing mellons to grapes.
                lol
rule of thumb...get the most for the money you have to spend.

I will be all over that if I can convince my wife I need a race bike and second he may change his mind!!

I think he is missing a "0" at the end of his price!

You're probably right. At best I'm thinking unstreetable C:R or no starter, at worst, a bolted together hodge-podge of wrecked internals.

                              Or maybe a steal.....

                              Would bolt right in.
