The wheel is still alittle to the right but that might be due to the GSXR swingarm is inverted. I will turn it back and weld on some strut and wheelie bar mount soon. Waiting on the 5/8 offset sprocket to show up, see the chain as it get closer to the tire as it going to the counter sprocket.

Is the standard wheel on a 82 GS1100EZ center between the frame

Still using 10 inch struts and had to cut some more tubing just behind my butt bar and will have to fab up a fender too. When the slick goes on I'll need to do some more cutting around the top strut mounting bolts.

I don't know if it's in the middle or not. To get your new rig aligned you can lock your front wheel straight ahead and run strings from the rear wheel (aligned in swingarm ofcourse) to the front. Then measure on either side of the front wheel.

Hey Jake,

How much is a little? It does not have to be perfectly aligned with the front to work OK. Lots of production bikes have upwards of 0.25" offset between the front and back and you can't tell while riding them. All it does is make it turn in a little easier one way than the other. Since you are running drags, you don't want to turn much anyway... If it makes your project go easier, don't worry about a bit of offset there.

I'd say just alittle over 1/4 inch to the right. My other tire was about the same distance too cause I marked the fender at the middle of the tire and installed the bigger rim and it's about the same place. This is with the GSXR swingarm inverted.

I should of measured the old stock one before I pulled it off, oh well.

Should be no problem to leave it alone. It will want to turn left a bit better than right, but that will not be a major thing in straight line running.

i have like a .25" spacer on the left (chain side) i run a 7" mickey, and i basically set it up to line up with the 5/8 offset, it wont line up equal between your sub frame, it probably wont be equal in the swing arm, but as long as you can squeeze your brakes and stuff in there youll be ok..

Thanks Richie for the info 8) on the offset sprocket cause I really don't want to flip the swingarm back over if I don't have to.

Yep I cut down the GS spacer to 5/16" and that leaves me with just a hair over 1/16 clearance between the swingarm and cush drive, can't go anymore to the left with the wheel. I'll try it and see how it goes at the track just as soon as I get that offset sprocket.

the only problem you might encounter now with a wide slick even with the offset sprocket is your chain might rub the frame a little, or the chain will rub the tire, i have my wheel cocked about 1/4" longer on the right than the left (center of axle to center of axle) so it will go straightand the chain almost rubs the tire....hope i helped some???? Looking good Jake. Was watching some street bikes (stock) running low 10s at 130 MPH in the 1/4 last weekend. They were almost silent, catching some air in 2nd and 3rd. Not sure how the times would compare with your GS.

Now, you just need a tire mounted on that rim. She looks very close the way it sits (chain to tire). Can't wait to see the whole thing put together and some low ETs.

I looked at my old stock 83 GS1100ESD and from what I can tell it is centered. I have to believe yours would have been in the stock setup as well.

At 5/8 I wonder how much more stress you wll be putting on the output shaft bearing. I have lost these before just with a slick and no offset. Maybe ceramic ball type could take more load when it's not turning? That or just start looking for a third bearing support on eBay. You could make one. Just seems like with as much abuse the bike is seeing that adding the tire and bars, something is going to give out soon. Oh well, just keep posting as you go.

Ah, come on. Gasoline is much worse!! With you living in the South, starting it would not be a problem. At 50 cents a gallon that was a deal for people living in Florida. Still waiting to see what the price is going to be here this year. Moves around a lot.

Finish up the wheel today. Installed 2 washer behind the oem counter sprocket to bring it flush with the spline shaft and it looks pretty straight with the chain on. Cut down on the inner fender to clear the tire and I think the wheel assy looks really good.

What do you think.

Won't get the offset sprocket until next week so will see how this goes
