Since you pass on the left of a HARLEY..why not a big middle finger for the guy to see as you dust him??MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Well, since the oil fill idea seems to be a goer, how about attaching it to the old clutch cable perch with a lanyard?Dogma

yeah i have been looking at it now and think.........do i really need another oil fill cap. the breather hose attachment on the original oil filler unscrews in about 5 seconds and it is not like i am going to be topping it up with oil very often.
so i think i will just go with the blanking plug. i can get one of these.....
for a few quid which will fit in nicely, has grooves for a suitable o ring and can be secured from inside the cover with a simple grub screw1978 GS1085.

I think the oil/filler cap breather is an untidy solution to something that might or might not actually be needed. Why not use the filler as a filler with conventional cap and run the breather out of the redundant clutch hole in solid pipe till its out of sight?
You do nice work I'm sure you could work it out.sigpic
Don't say can't, as anything is possible with time and effort, but, if you don't have time things get tougher and require more effort.

But....you have a point about running it from the spare hole. i will look into what fittings i can get/make and what pipe i can use.
(i am thinking off the top of my head 13mm copper pipe now)1978 GS1085.
