81 gs650g
Alright everybody got a question. I have a 81 gs650g with a 84 650 motor on it. The numbers I guess match to the katana motor not really sure. But my question is what's the difference between the gs650 and the gs1100. I know that sounds like a dumb question but I want to know is can you interchange the parts for example can I take the cams out of a gs1100 and put them in a gs650?Tags: None

If that is an '84 motor, somebody has gone to a LOT of effort to remove all the black paint from it.
Can you give us the serial number from the engine? There are places where it can be looked up to see what year it is.
By they way, you don't have a 650G, you have a 650GL.
Some on this forum will say "sorry about your luck", but it's still a nice bike.
Differences between the 650 and 1100? Lets just say that they use the same gas and air. If the 1100 is the four-valve, chain-driven engine, the spark plugs are the same. If it is the two-valve, shaft-driven 1100, the valve shims and buckets are the same. Virtually NOTHING else is interchangeable.

The title of the bike shows a 640gsl 81. The motor numbers are GS650G-1C5894. The bike only has 15k miles. It runs but the starter needed the brushes cleaned and the boots are crack for the carbs. I picked up the bike for 200 with so title so I can't bitch. I want to build up the bike for drag racing. convert to alcohol bigger cams and rejet the Carbs. I want to do this a cheap as possible so I need your guys help plz.

Your motor number is more likely 105894. In any event, this is a lousy choice for drag bike. The frame and engine layout is real compact- the shaft drive only makes things worse for your intentions.
Getting this bike for $200 with a title makes it real easy to sell it and find something better suited to your needs.1981 gs650L
