Now I'm on the hunt for a high quality cooler with braided line setup (and an 1150EF filter housing). I believe Earls makes/made a filter kit with all the necessary parts to just bolt on and ride. Does anyone know where to get such a thing?

Oil Cooler for a GS1100E and the proper way to hook it up
So it's time for an oil cooler for my GS1100E. After a complete tear down and rebuild of the engine over the winter, I didn't understand how the oil would be pumped through the cooler when it appeared that the passages to the oil filter housing basically bypassed the cooler passages. Then I found this REALLY informative article on the proper way to hook a cooler to a 16V GS1100 engine:

Thanks for the info and pics. Yeah I meant to say Cooler Kit rather than “Filter Kit.”
Anyway I was hoping to find a resource that detailed the cooler and exact parts needed to properly plumb it to the engine. There are a lot of coolers, fittings and line types to choose from and I was hoping someone had already done the footwork and documented what was needed. It turns out that the Earl’s UK site http://www.earls.co.uk does have a kit for the GS1100E but it doesn’t specify each individual component so I called over to the UK and the helpful guy there stepped me through all the part numbers that are needed so I could order it from a US retailer. Attached is a list of all the parts needed to plumb an Earls cooler to a GS1100E.
A couple important notes:
The ID of AN fittings are specified in 16ths. So the ID of an AN#8 fitting is 8/16” or 1/2”
I couldn’t find the 14X1.5mm to AN#8 adapters that connect the lines to the engine anywhere on the Earls site or Summit site. I had to search by part number…
All fittings here are speced at AN#8 except the Dowty Seals (ie rubber lined crush washers). They are AN#6 because the engine threads are 14mm which is equivalent to the OD of an AN#6 thread.
Earls UK also manufactures a custom oil diverter “Bung” that fits into the oil passage under the filter cover on the 1100E engine and forces oil through the cooler. The part number is ED19. This is a custom part and available only from Earls UK http://www.earls.co.uk
The complete oil cooler kit from Earls UK is part number OL505. This is not a valid part number in the States.
Lastly, all this shiny new stuff is running close to $300 so I still have my eye on a couple used 1150 coolers and filter covers. I’ll keep you posted.

I used -8 lines and fittings for mine. I got the adapters and fittings from anplumbing.com
I had an older custom? type filter cover that has ports for lines in it, which made it a pain to do oil filter changes, so I blocked them off and ran the lines from the ports one either side
Found this cooler on ebay much cheaper than Earls:
