GS1150 intake cam on GS1100
I've got a set of GS1150 camshafts that I want to put in my 83' GS1100. However, since the exhaust camshaft doesn't have the tachometer wormgear pinion, I'm thinking of switching in only the intake camshaft and leaving the exhaust alone. Is this okay to do? Will this make the engine run like crap by messing up the valve lift timing?Tags: None

The question would still remain: is there a power advantage?

Ray, how should they be degree'd? What numbers we talking about? 108, 109?Last edited by Fjbj40; 09-11-2015, 06:30 AM.1978 Gs1085 compliments of Popy Yosh, Bandit 1200 wheels and front end, VM33 Smoothbores, Yosh exhaust, braced frame, ported polished head
1983 Gs1100ESD, rebuild finished! Body paintwork happening winter 2017:D
I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things.

This is an interesting thread! I could buy a set of used 1150 cams for my 80 1100 which has some minor porting and a set of 36 mm flatslides for far less than a set of aftermarket cams. My question is how much of a power diff. is there between the 2 choices?80 gs1100 16-v ported & polished, 1 mm oversize intake valves, 1150 carbs w/Dynojet stage 3, plus Bandit/gsxr upgrades
