    GS 1000 versus GS(X)1100 crankcases

Is there any difference between the 8 valve and 16 valve crankcases?
I'm asking because I want to paint the crankcases and want to keep the downtime to a minimum with a spare set

They ARE different! Cylinder stud placement is the biggest. NOT interchangeable without machine work. Ray.
