We probably need a bit more information. What type of modifications are on the bike now and are you referring to a carb or do you have throttle body fuel injection of some sort. If it is has stock carbs now and performance mods maybe some smoothbore 29s?

i apologize carbs, V & H pipe, pods, jetted, but i recently removed the carbs for a rebuild, and some one dropped them by accident and one of them got damaged, a piece broke off, i can take a pic of it when i get home, looks to be a drain not sure, having trouble finding stock carbs so im curious what other options i have.

You might be able to find a replacement here.
IIRC, the 1000 used a VM29, and they were position specific. In other words, if it is cylinder 3 you would need a replacement #3 carb.

My '79 has VM26SS carburetors, I think they all came that way. Ray

The copper skinny pipe that's missing on the top of the pic? What is it, and is it needed?

It is the enrichener tube and yes it is needed. I have actually replaced one in the past successfully buy removing another from a junk carb.
