What's the trick to get the forks to slide up easier? (Lowering front)
Cant get the forks to slide up, any tricks? I have the front wheel off and the bolts keeping the forks held in place are off. I can seem to get the forks to move up. Help!!!Tags: None

Squirt some wd40 around where the clamps meet the fork legs. Leave it over night then try rotating the legs. Failing that grab one fork leg in each hand and gently but firmly push one while pulling the other. Assuming you've loosened all the bolts.

Remind us please, what bike you have.
Some bikes have air forks with a balance tube built into a crossover that is held in place with a clip.
No way of telling what you have, because there is nothing in your post, your profile or your signature that gives us a hint.

I have had good luck using a rubber strap wrench on the stanchions.
A nice pop with a cold chisel will help spread the triple tree clamps as well.

yes on a flat tip or other object to spread the clamps a bit. They will move nicely for you.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
