engine swap 82 gs 650 gl?

Has anybody done or know if it is possible to switch motor or whole drivetrain in 1982 gs 650 gl? looking to go bigger. Or is it just easier to sell and buy a bigger bike?

If it isn't going to make it faster or safer it isn't worth doing

      Buy bigger
You can get a gsx1100f (powerscreen 1127 oilcooled motor) in the 650 but it's a hell lot of work modding the frame, drive shaft, tank, etc etc etc

The 650 engine is already tight in the frame, I don't know what you could put in there without a LOT of modification.

With that amount of work ahead of you, it would be easier, cheaper and quicker to just get a bigger bike.

Just curious, have you actually ridden your 650? They are a potent little bike.

OK, at least you have experienced it.

Too many times, we see new guys that just don't think that 650cc is enough.

The GS650s "ace in the hole" is that it's actually a 673 cc engine, where most others are a bit smaller than the advertised size, and that makes it a bit of a sleeper.
