Rapidray (member here) in Anaheim is the obvious choice. Just make sure to have a frank discussion with him about delivery timing. He's often quite busy. He may read this and hammer on me, but so be it. He knows what he's doing but apparently has a backlog from time to time.

Failing an agreement with Ray, there is always Ape. Might be more expensive though.

Tom Klemme in Davenport does nice work, I have had excellent success with his modified heads. He has a flow bench so you can measure the improvements. -The last one he took a 72CFM stock 1150 head and made the intakes flow 108 when done +1mm over valves on intake side, porting- that is a mild head that would keep the power down in a rev range you can use. the work and parts were right around $1500.

Redline where I'm at may be a little more than Klemme but you can get a expert head done as soon as you can pay the bill - probably a week turn around depending on the parts shipping schedule.

From what I have been told, that price list looks better than what I heard this guy charges. ($1500) http://www.wardperformance.com/cylinder-head-porting-services/

I have an extra 8 valve 1000 motor and some 29mm flatsides that that I was thinking about setting up to go fast then put in my bike. My dilemma is that I am not going to go to the race track with it, and I have already spent more on my bike than I could sell it for ---LOL

I have used FBG. Turn around time has never been a problem.

Cost will depend what you need done. The work they have done for me has been fairly simple and normally they are under $1000 with shipping.

I think the heads they have done for my friends NA motors are in the $4000 range. Those are normally with cams, titanium valves, custom spigots, welded rockers and cutting the pockets, etc.

With the turbo, I use basically stock cams and get away with the stock rockers. The most I had spent was on the last head they did for me in 2011/12. Started with a very nice 1100 casting that I gave $50 for. FBG did a Serdi, porting, pro-springs (shims & seals), stainless exhaust valves, titanium retainers (required for the big springs I use), resurface and cut the receiver grove. Came to $1607 without shipping.

Big Jay, many years ago your company made me up a couple of sets of custom wrist pins. I just wanted to say that I have been VERY happy with them. I pull those motors apart at least once a year and those pins never have any signs of wear. Thanks.

Not to derail the OPs head question but thought I would show what APE had made for me. L to R stock, Wiseco, MTC tool steel, APE. That APE pin has seen many passes at 30 PSI of boost and they still slide out like butter without a mark on them. These pins, the MTC clutch and the Robinson transmission were some of the best investments I made with the GS.
