swing arm

you will never make it look right because of the shapes and factory construction of the 80-83 arms.
you could pick up a 78/79 GS1000E round tube arm and do a pretty nice job extending it....i did years ago and it looked and worked great at 6" over.
if you have to have an 80-83 arm extended...
terry mcintosh can do it to where you'll never know it was done unless you measure it.
he's not cheap but he is the best in the country.

terrys right on the money about the round tube looking stock extended the right way. 4" over on my bike looks shorter than stock. and the aluminum arm will definately take some custom fabbed pieces instead of roundtube slugs. but it can be done. give mcintosh a call for a quote and then give me a call. i can most likely beat it by a fair amount.
and i am all for people doing stuff their self, but like they ssay 'if ya gotta ask'

I have this swing arm with new pivot bearings installed, it has been checked and it is straight. It has been extended in an almost hidden area when installed that looks stock. and uses the stock wheel, and spacers ect.Attached FilesLast edited by gs11ezrydr; 05-18-2014, 05:48 AM.sigpic 82 gs1100ez 1168 Wiseco,Web .348 Cams,Falicon Sprockets,Star Racing Ported Head,1mm o/s Stainless Valves,APE Springs,Bronze Guides, etc.APE Billet Tensioner,36CV Carbs,Stage 3 Dynojet,Plenum w/K&N filter,Trued,Welded,Balanced,Crank w/Katana rods & Billet left end, FBG backcut trans, VHR HD Clutch basket,APE nut,VHR High volume oil pump gears,1150 Oil cooler,V&H Megaphone header w/Competition baffle,Dyna S,Coils,Wires, etc.Other misc.mods.

Here is another pic showing how it is braced on the bottom, Double plated for strength but still light. Actual length is approx. 5-5 1/2 inches over. PM me for a price if wanted. +4 Swingarm GS1000
This is my backhalf of my racebike. Seat lowered. Struts. Tubular 4130 Rearsets. Extended swingarm and relocated swingarm tabs. and the fender struts are the part flopped down. All done by me.
PS. dont let the big welds fool ya. i just capped over the stock suzuki welds and capped my initial welds. was adding metal to polish the swingarm for chrome. no body filler allowed. here it is ground down for smoothness.

It is not going to do you any good to make the swingarm longer if you keep the stock wheel you will need a wider wheel that excepts the newer tires to get the traction with the longer wheel base. How much longer are you wanting to go? The Bandit 1250 swingarm and wheel would look killer on a GS1100. You could switch it to mono shock or weld on brackets to except the shocks. The Bandit 1250 arm is about 3'' longerMy stable

I am not sure what this swingarm was on originally but it was on a 1980 GS1000 8 valve. It might be what your looking for it measures 23'' long and 8.75'' at the pivotLast edited by stetracer; 05-20-2014, 05:13 PM.My stable

ste thats a nice looking arm. prolly kaw or something with the eccentric chain adjuster. not sure how you would make gs wheels fit on there but would look good with whatever wheels you put on there. how much you looking for, will prolly be way cheaper to gothis route than me to lenthen the stock 1000 one for wildeye.
