    I didn't really notice any change in the action, apart from not having to reposition my hand to get to WOT.

      I just cut the old grips off and clean off whatever gunk is under them. The PVC pipe is inside the throttle housing where the cables terminate.

      As I said, it's your bike and your money. Look at it this way, if you try the PVC sleeve mod and you don't like it then you are only out a couple of $$ and a few minutes time. If you really can't stand the idea, then you can still go buy an R1 throttle and install it instead. My bet is once you put the PVC sleeve in you will never think about it again.

      I hate to break this to you but there is no way to not increase the force required if you reduce the travel. It is a simple lever and that is how physics works. The only reason a new bike has an easy twist is that it also has nice new cables and everything else that work perfectly. Replace the old, worn out cables on your GS and it will feel exactly the same.

        So it's a tradeoff, really. Either less to WOT using more force, or reposition my wrist to get to WOT. Is the force that much noticeable? Maybe invest in a new cable as well?

          I didn't notice any more force required, maybe my wrists are stronger...LOL

              Yes, it is a trade off. A certain amount of work has to be done in compressing the return springs as you open the throttle.

              Work = Force X Distance

              If you reduce the distance the work is performed over then the force has to go up. There is no other way this can work. The only way you will know is to try it and see. The CV carbs (assuming your bike has CV's) all have such light return springs on them that I don't think it is an issue. At least it isn't for me and I am just a pasty office boy with very few callouses on my hands and no blacksmith wrists.

              You are massively over thinking this. In the time you have spent typing you could have went down to your favourite hardware store, bought the PVC, cut it to fit and then went for a test ride. If the effort is too high then I would lube the throttle cable. If that doesn't do it, then put a new cable on.

                Well I'm just trying to figure out other things I can do with my bike until I get it running. She is just sitting there taunting me and I want to work on her more...

                  Fair enough. Go buy the PVC and make a sleeve up to pass the time, then go work on whatever is keeping you from having a running bike.

                    So are the pipe dimensions in that thread? And say I want to replace the throttle cable eventually, where should I go for the replacement/upgrade?

                      Yep: http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...d.php?t=135697

                      As for the throttle cable, I haven't bought one for ages and the last one was an OEM replacement. I would think any of the usual suspects for cheap OEM parts would be fine.
