That means I won't have to do anything with the frame.
Good news, IMO it is much better to butcher up the GSXR swingarm than to attempt to tweak the GS frame. At least this way you can always put the GS swingarm back in and have a functional bike if the GSXR swingarm doesn't pan out.

If it were me I would have your friend turn some brass/bronze bushings to suit the new arrangement (modified GSXR swingarm mating to a GS pivot bolt) and not even worry about bearings. Bushings are the best arrangement going for a swingarm pivot anyway and in this case are the simplest way to mate the different parts easily.

Exactly, but I need to remove the bearings to shave down the swingarm. They might get destroyed, but anyways I'm sticking to the gsxr bearings and turning a spacer to use the gs pivot. I'll probably draw up a spacer with a collar since one of the endcaps on the gsxr swinger is damaged or is that part often included in swingarm bearing kits?

Another question, is the number of teeth on the output axle the same on the gs and the gsxr so front sprockets swap over?

I have never bought a kit for the swingarm bearings, it has always just been the bearings as loose pieces. Normally you would reuse the caps so you will probably have to replace the damaged one separately.

The oil cooled GSXR countershaft sprockets work on my 1100E and it appears that your K2 750 has the same splines on it so it should fit. You are most likely going to need an offset sprocket to clear that wide rear tire, though.

Ok thanks, I got the swingarm bearings and lower triple three bearing removed today. Measured and need to remove 3mm each side of the swingarm, my friend picked up the swingarm and a drawing of the new bearing spacer. Will probably get back to me in a couple of days

Back with an update and maybe a new dilemma....
Because allthough I have all the bearings for assembling the front end now. A 2007 SV1000S appeared in my stable and as some of you know the gsxr usd fork is a bolt on upgrade for the sv1000 with them using the same bearings. So now I'm contemplating putting the sv fork on the gs and the gsxr fork on the sv....

did you ever get the races out of the GS headstock? One trick we use at work to pull races is to run a weld bead all the way around the inner surface of the race.
it doesn't have to fill the race, just one continuous bead around the inside of the race and let it cool.
it'll shrink the race and you can get it out with a couple of gentle taps. I've had them just fall out of a hub doing this

Here's the conversion bearings and new swingarm bearings pluss fork seals and dust collars

                mounted

Changing the fork seals ment I had to make myself a new tool for compressing the spring... A piece of exhaust pipe, two nuts, some self vulcanizing tape and threaded bar and voila:

a friend of mine came through and made me some new collars and bushings for the rear swingarm, the swingarm was also milled down 3 mm on each side to fit inside the gs frame...

So now the only stuff that remains to get it rolling is to remove the battery tray and make the mounts for the upper and lower shock and brace the frame, however its sort of on hold at the moment because the rear tire is a 190/55-17, way to big. My thought is to use a supermotard 4.5" wheel with a 170 rear tire. Also a supermotard front wheel with gsxr spoke hub from cognito moto...
I'll probably be picking up a set of SM wheels next weekend so I can start the job of fitting the rear wheel and get the geometry like I want it Stay tuned

More pic and info on your seat please. As I am looking to do the same on my seat and I love how yours came out.

Are you doing a restoration project of some kind on a GS? Let everyone see what you are doing by posting the details here.

So, I've been out with the measuring tape now. I've been so caught up in geometry and such that I completely forgot about the wheelbase... I've been staring at that rear end thinking to myself that it is kinda off, too long, too stretched. And it sort of is, because the swingarm is longer than the stock one. This all leads to the wheelbase beeing ca 1510mm long, compared to stock 1490.... My question is, what is the effect of those 20mm's(almost and inch, 7/8?) of extra wheelbase gonna be? If any at all?

Compared to my SV1000S the gsxr swingarm I have is around 20mm longer, the gsxr being 625mm vs the sv1000's 605mm. Does anyone know the length of the bandit 1200 swingarm?

With all the other changes you are making the 20mm longer wheelbase will not be noticeable at all.
