GS1000 2 valve poor man's big bore....
So I saw a question posted but it never got an answer. Can you use 1100 2 valve pistons in a gs1000 2 valve by simply boring and decking the cylinder?Tags: None

Thank You for the information. I find GS1100 2 valve pistons on Ebay for 75-100 where Wisecos run 500-600. I have a 81 1000gl that leaks oil from the head gasket and the stator Just went bad among other issues. I just thought if I were going to pull the head to fix the leak I might as well fit new pistons and rings and have the head checked out or rebuilt. I don't really want to put to much into a shaft drive bike but I don't want to just part it out either. If I can I will just put new rings on the stock pistons and hone the cylinder but if it's worn I wanted a low cost upgrade. Sounds like used 1100G pistons and new rings might just be the ticket.

Outside the US, buying OE new it's not economically viable, Wisecos are the better deal. Ring prices can surprise too....

there are some chinese made 1100cc big bore kits on ebay from the usa. couple of guys in the uk have fitted them. quality seems good and they report no problems with fitting and running. they seem genuinely well made. kits comprise of 4 pistons and ring sets small end bushes, head gasket, and they are retailing at just over 100 pounds, less than a single suzuki piston. worth a look.

I saw those. seemed almost too good to be true. I have thought of going that route but I might just re-gasket my motor and leave it stock. The motor runs great it's just leaky and unknown miles. It does run well though so a re seal and go might be all I do.
