    GS850G Performance upgrades

Any suggestions, the bike is a US spec.
As soon as the upgrades are done the engine will be put in my trike frame as I need a new engine the bike has only 18,300 miles on the clock
but is a bit too tame options include Harris exhaust,K&N filters (pods ?)

I,d love to but I,d rather a low mileage Kawasaki GTR or ZL900 would do nicely

A Harris pipe and K&N's will certainly make it louder.
Highly unlikely they'll make it any quicker, in fact the opposite is normally true.
Harris's are crap. Not enough silencer volume with road baffle, not enough back pressure with race baffle. They're designed for GS1000/GSX1100 with big race carbs.

Best upgrade would be a GS1000G engine, wil fit straight in, then you could fit 1085 kit and whatever else you can afford (cams, flatslides etc.)

you my well be right, but I need to use K&N's as there is no room to use the original air box on my trike, and therefore need a better exhaust than the Motad thats fitted to the bike and even then I'm going to have to cut and modify the Harris to get the silencer in the right place.
I have ordered the new needle jets to change to UK spec and so I can fit the air corrector kit and filters the exhaust will be last to go on.

Hope I get it done before the Bulldog Bash 8) [/img]

I think you're off the charts here.

The GS850 engine is a real sweetie stock, but for some reason no one has reported that they've been able to get one to run right with pods and an aftermarket exhaust.

With a box of jets, needles, an exhaust gas analyzer, a dyno, and a long weekend to tinker, you could be the first! Report back to the group when you're done.
