bandit front end swap issue. need your advise.please
Hey all. I am in the middlw of my bandit suspension swap. the forks i bought seem to be from an 02 model 1200. the wheel i got from a 97. I bought brakes for a 97 and an 02. 4 piston nissin for the 97 and 6 piston tokico from an 02. The issue I am having is the caliper clearance. The nissin do not fit the rotor because they are too far inward, the rotor hits the out edge of the pad opening. the 6 pots seem to fit ok, no clearance issue against rotor, BUT, there is only maybe 1-2 mm clearance from the wheel spokes. picture attached. I know i should have gotten a complete front end, but have never been able to find one. Any help will greatly appreciated.Tags: None

the triples came with the forks. as far as my research shows, they are correct. I swapped the stem from the original front end, that worked fine. I thinnk I have the wrong wheel.

Metalgear in Australia is another site to check.
Mario, what is your current fork spacing? I know they changed that on the 01 and up Bandits. I originally put 02 forks in a first generation triple tree and the calipers didn't line up either.
When I get off work tomorrow I'll look at my Bandit front end and check spacing on everything.

The proper way is to measure the space in between the forks, then add the fork diameter (43mm in this case). That will get you the center-to-center spacing. But just the gap in between the forks works fine too.

Ok - just throwing a tape measure across everything, here's what I found.
01-05 GSF12 forks are 6.375" apart
Earlier GSF12 forks are 6.125" apart
And the rotors are 5.1875" apart measured from the outer surface on each one.
Hope that helps.

You could have GSXR 1100 disks that are a direct bolt-on except that their offset is 22 mm.

Stetracer, that was measuring parts bought on eBay (I couldn't find a complete front end anywhere). The "early Bandit" measurement I listed above is from an RF900 triple tree......
Since you have both front ends available, how about posting any differences between two?
