    Mystery Exhaust

    Hi Gang,

I spent this entire summer rebuilding my 79 GS750E and I’m just about done.

I’m thinking about doing something different with my exhaust.

Currently I have the bolt on Vance & Hines Megaphone exhaust that bolts right on to these bikes without requiring any re-jetting or anything.

It’s been on the bike for years and still looks nice but I saw this bike, and I was blown away with the custom work.

My question for you guys is: does anybody have a clue as to what kind of exhaust the guy used, is it an aftermarket exhaust from Europe, a custom job, a ready-made bolt on unit, what??????

I’d love to have this same system on my bike.

    As always, thanks in advance…….

    That is a Harris system.
I agree they are nice looking.
Hope you live in the U.K.

Looks like a Harris to me also very pricey. I have titanium one on my GSX1100 and it was $2000 but they give you two baffles a street and a Competion baffle.

It’s definitely a Harris, I checked out their website and that’s it, but it looks like their very limited in which bikes and which models they make systems for.

If I’m not mistaken the spacing between exhaust ports, pipe diameter, and bolt placement should be just about identical for the late 1970’s GS750 and GS1000 bikes.

Harris only advertises a header pipe and can for the GS1000 but the picture of the modified bike I showed you guys was a heavily modified GS750 with a GS750 engine so the Harris exhaust must fit a 750 even though it was designed for a 1000???

If anybody thinks or knows differently, please chime in.

Also the price I saw (just yesterday) was for about $380.00 Euros which wouldn’t come to $2,000.00 US………

The $2K was for a titanium version, not the standard one.

Yes I seen that 380L. The Harris exhaust I have they don't list on there web site. I was told that it was custom made by them it is a sweet exhaust and it cost 2g's from the guy I bought the bike from They quit making the GS1100/1150 a while ago. You won't be disappointed. The bike I have came from the UK
the exhaust has a good sound and is very well made. So for for it you will like it. And the chrome exhaust is not that bad of a price. I wonder what the shipping would be?

I have the Harris exhaust on my 750/850 so yes it fits. But 750/850 engines are lower so the collector sits lower to the ground. Not really a big problem though....

Edit; and yes! The sound is sweet as...!

                  Thanks guys, seriously...

I really appreciate all the positive info and feedback...

I'm definitely going to get one for next season.

I've already raided the piggy bank enough this year, and the riding season is almost over with anyway.

                  Good Looking out guys.....
