Oh No, not another Oil Cooler question.

    Hi guys, great site.
I've read with interest Terry's posts on oil cooler fitment(strange that I go to a site around the world to read about a fellow Melbournite :? ), but I'm unable to work out how to fit one to a 750 Kat engine.
There's no place on the motor I can see to plumb in a cooler. The only place I can see is I would have to somehow weld in a takeoff at the oil filter cover where the oil gallery comes forward from the pump. This would seem to involve actually inserting a tube part way into the gallery to interrupt the path to the front of the filter cavity and then a return line into the cover. Does anyone know of a less intricate way of doing this or can anyone steer me in the direction of a manufacturer who makes a fitting/adaptor to do the job?
    It's a 1981 750 Katana 16V TSCC engine.
    Thanx

You are exactly correct on the location of the oil cooler cover for your kat and all 16 valve GS(X)750 bikes from 1980 to 1982. These covers come up on e-bay frequently so I would keep an eye out for one there.

Don't bid on that...that's not what I'm talking about!!! What I mean is that the oil filter cover is replaced with another cover that has been tapped for oil lines that run to the oil cooler. Let me see if I can find some pictures of what I'm talking about.

The one you have the link to is for the bikes that take oil flow off the pressure switch when it is located behind the cylinders. Your pressure switch is located on the oil filter cover.

          Sorry about the confusion.

Pics would be good Hap. I did figure out that it was the wrong'un. Note the (almost) in the post. Just thought it might be of interest to some roller bearing engine owners.
            Thanks for your interest.

Hey Hap, if you find those pics, and cannot post them directly on the site, can you send them to me also? Thanx!

Is it that oil filter cover with two tap off tee outs? This item is still active, let's try! German people are very honest.

Addy, that's the part I was talking about. This setup on eBay also has the cooler.

That's the thing I'm looking for!!! You guys are legends. 90 euros is a little pricey though. Might have to bite the bullet and do it myself.

Ill send you mine for the frieght charges. i would like to own one euro dollar just for my wall collection though. I have the entire rig, all home made except for the cover and the coils are off a small honda aomething.. Perhaps you could use the coils also. The bracket is made of aluminum and is a plumbers nightmare. just a notrethough i eventually took it off and i live in a hot place.

What is different about the cover than a standard 1100? I cannot see the other side of it, is there a tube or something that holds the oil from getting to the filter before it goes through the cooler? I am also looking for that type of setup, to see if it is any better then the pressure switch adapter.
