Need someone that can do a basic valve job on a KZ1000 engine. Nothing fancy. Client (not me) doesn't know any reliable shops local to him. North East US. Already told him about APE. Looks like they charge $189 for a "performance (standard) valve job". Might be hard to beat that all things considered.

Anyone Know a Good Head Shop?
No, not that kind.

Also, how do you know it's not just a garage used for storage and that his "shop" where the work is being done isn't elsewhere??? For what it's worth, what matters is not how a place looks, but the quality of the service provided. I personally have never had any work done by the member you appear to be bad-mouthing, but I cannot recall anyone ever having posted anything negative about that members work. And this forum is small enough that bad news regarding parts/services turns into a real $hitstorm very quick (i.e. the CafeKid incident). I'd much rather go to a good shop that gives excellent service, regardless of how it looks, than one that might look like a pristine lab but doesn't know a needle valve from a wheel spoke.
If you want to criticize the services being offered by the member of this forum, you had better have the proof to back it up. Just a polite warning!Last edited by frosty5011; 01-17-2015, 02:32 AM.Frosty (falsely accused of "Thread-Hijacking"!)

I recently did business with RapidRay. I bought an instrument panel sight unseen. He asked a fair price, I paid it, and I was not disappointed.
My two cents.1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

I reported Eric's post above right after he added it. Since we have mods about now it's time to put a stop to this kind of BS, and I'm not talking about a "polite warning"!Ed

I like Rays storage garage. I wish mine was filled with valuable trinkets like that! I see cams, a front end... As far as motorcycle shops go in the Northeast USA. There's Fast by Gast in the Buffalo New York aria. Bob Carpenter in the New Jersey aria. Both very reputable.Last edited by storm 64; 01-17-2015, 10:09 AM.My Motorcycles:

There is a bunch of good shops in the north east that will do the job your friend needs what state does he live in that might help narrow down the search.
image.jpgI can't believe that someone would dis someone over the condition of their garage mine is packed with bike parts also and I have a storage shed and 16' trailer packed also. I wish I had another 1000' of space but you have to make due with what you have. When I work on something I have a long work bench to assemble motors and what I call my port bench to do heads. Some of my parts I have in my brothers garage because I don't have enough room in mine to store everything and be able to work on them also. I have a lot of parts just like Ray and when I work on something it tends to get messier until I clean up afterwards. And yes I have to push some bikes and bycycles out of the garage to work on bikes because I have to many bike projects going on at once. Ray all I can say is welcome to the club packed garage although you might be the President of the club Lol. I'll bet there is a whole lot of people out there that would love to have the parts in our garages. I have a pic of my garage but it is after I cleaned up some and just of one side of it. I try to keep it clean but I just don't always have the time or energy to do it. Heck for the last three months I have been relying on friends just to help me move heavy parts around.
Eric post up a pic of your garage. Is it a bad thing that one can't bring themselves to throw a good part away?My stable

You need to stop trying to trash people you have never even met, let alone never done business with or ever been "ripped off" by.

Do your research before dealing with any shop be it the BBB or personal references (preferably living far away from the shop).
