Lowering an '82 1100 L??
Hey guys, going for a slammed bobber type look for my 1100L. My thoughts would be to buy new shocks that are 2in shorter, and just slide the fork tubes through the triple tree two inches to match. Thoughts?Tags: None

Go for any "look" you want, but with those cuts, you will only be going in straight lines.
Don't forget to also cut some out of the centerstand and side stand, or you will never be able to park it.
And please go for your "look" with a chain-driven bike. A shaftie's u-joint will not live long at a constant angle like that.

I agree with Steve. I have a 1981 gs1100e that is slammed. I have almost 3 inches from the bottom of the exhaust to the ground. So watch for big pot holes, speed bumps, and my favorite high bumps into parking lots. Hell my bike drags taken it out of my shop. The steering will feel heavy at low speeds. I retro fitted a steering dampener to help with that. Like he said with it slammed it does not corner well. I have my rear shocks set to heaviest setting. and I changed to a heavier fork fluid in front forks. For a little less travel. Yes Lowered bikes look cool and mean, but there is drawl backs.

I have lowered several bikes by adding another spring at the bottom of the dampening rod (the one that hits when up top out) it pulls the fork legs farther inside each other and also stiffens the suspension.sigpic 82 gs1100ez 1168 Wiseco,Web .348 Cams,Falicon Sprockets,Star Racing Ported Head,1mm o/s Stainless Valves,APE Springs,Bronze Guides, etc.APE Billet Tensioner,36CV Carbs,Stage 3 Dynojet,Plenum w/K&N filter,Trued,Welded,Balanced,Crank w/Katana rods & Billet left end, FBG backcut trans, VHR HD Clutch basket,APE nut,VHR High volume oil pump gears,1150 Oil cooler,V&H Megaphone header w/Competition baffle,Dyna S,Coils,Wires, etc.Other misc.mods.
